I looked up at Heaven one day
and saw an angel on a cloud
she was so beautiful
she was clothed in a cotton shroud.
I asked her how my loved one was
she smiled and nodded her head
as if she understood my pain
or felt all the tears I’d shed.

but I knew it anyway
